6 reasons why El Morro is perfect for your walk, especially now!

Puerto Rico is still mostly under the lockdown. Many places are closed but nature and outside are not. Since we can walk and exercise outside now I decided to take a walk in my favorite Old San Juan. El Morro and the lawn in front of it is always a good idea even if it’s closed. The outside of this historic landmark is gorgeous and it is overlooking some beautiful views of Puerto Rico.

 Here are 6 reasons why El Morro is perfect for your walk, especially now!

  1. It has a beautiful open space where you can walk, run, exercise either on the path or on the lawn. Social distancing while enjoying the outdoors is not an issue. You can spend some quality time there with your family or by yourself.
  2. The views are spectacular. The views of the Fort and the walls are impressive and from the Fort point of view, you can see the coast of San Juan, La Perla, and Old San Juan in the background. That mix is everything.
  3. You witness the 500- year old history right in front of your eyes. I love thinking about past time. I always wonder how was Puerto Rico back then. When the Fort is opened ( now still on the covid 19 lockdown) I love taking free tours inside and learning always something new about history. It’s fascinating, it brought us all here.
  4. Sunny but breezy weather. Chances are that it will be windy around el Morro, so watch out for your skirts and dresses and forget about doing your hair lol. That’s why the walk is so pleasant because you are soaking up in the sun ( wear SPF!!!) but with the nice breeze.
  5. You can fly a kite! Wake up your inner child and fly some kites on El Morro lawn I promise its fun and it’s a fun Puerto Rican tradition to spend some family time there while flying colorful kites.
  6. Path from El Morro leads you to beautiful and charming cobblestone streets of Old Town. The colorful streets are just so fun and pretty to walk around. While everything is closed in Old San Juan the doors, windows and the colonial architecture are still there for you to enjoy and admire.

Puerto Rico jest nadal w większości zablokowane w związku z covid 19. Wiele miejsc jest zamkniętych, ale natura i to co na zewnątrz, nie. Ponieważ teraz możemy chodzić i ćwiczyć na zewnątrz, postanowiłam wybrać się na spacer do mojego ulubionego Starego Miasta San Juan.

El Morro i trawnik przed nim jest zawsze dobrym pomysłem, nawet jeśli Fort jest zamknięty. Zewnętrzna część tego zabytkowego obiektu jest cudowna i wychodzi na piękne widoki na Puerto Rico.

6 powodów dlaczego El Morro jest idealny na spacer zwłaszcza teraz?

  1. Ma piękną otwartą przestrzeń, w której można chodzić, biegać, ćwiczyć na ścieżce lub na trawniku. Dystans społeczny podczas zabawy na świeżym powietrzu, nie stanowi problemu. Możesz spędzić trochę czasu z rodziną lub samemu.
  2. Widoki są spektakularne. Widoki fortu i murów są imponujące, az punktu widzenia fortu widać w tle wybrzeże San Juan, La Perla i stary San Juan. Ta mieszanka jest wszystkim co najwspanialsze.
  3. 500-letnia historia na twoich oczach. Uwielbiam myśleć o przeszłości. Zawsze zastanawiam się, jak wtedy było w Puerto Rico. Kiedy Fort jest otwierty (obecnie wciąż jest zamknięty na covid 19) uwielbiam brać udział w bezpłatnych wycieczkach i zawsze uczyć się czegoś nowego o historii. To historia doprowadziła nas tu gdzie jesteśmy.
  4. Słoneczna, ale wietrzna pogoda. Są szanse, że wokół El Morro będzie wietrznie, więc uważaj na spódnice i sukienki i zapomnij o układaniu włosów. To dlatego spacer jest tak przyjemny, ponieważ zanurzasz się w słońcu (noś SPF !!!), ale z przyjemną bryzą.
  5. Możesz puszczać latawce! Obudź swoje wewnętrzne dziecko i puszczaj latawce na trawniku El Morro Obiecuję, że jest fajnie i to tradycja portorykańska, aby spędzać tam czas z rodziną latając kolorowymi latawcami.
  6. Ścieżka z El Morro prowadzi do pięknych i uroczych brukowanych uliczek Starego Miasta. Kolorowe ulice są po prostu fajne i ładne do spacerów. Podczas gdy wszystko w Starym San Juan jest zamknięte, drzwi, okna i kolonialna architektura są nadal dostępne, aby nacieszyć nimi oko.
